Walkthrough

Track Billy through Nektropos Castle by following clues in the basement, chapel, library, and courtyard, then defeat monsters and Lord Everling to recover the Guise of the Deceiver heritage mask.

How to start

Interact with a crate on the basement floor of Nektropos Castle and examine the received item, a tiny note, to initiate the quest.

Adventure level 31+ required.
Carry 5 silver on you for a later step.
At least one person in the group must have unlocked all levels of Nektropos Castle.

Steps

1. Kill Billy under Elise's Bedroom
Go to the basement under Elise's Bedroom. Billy should spawn as you enter — kill him.

2. Kill Billy in the Game Room
Go to the Game Room and walk into the room. Billy auto-spawns when someone is on this step.
- On Origins, you must clear the ghosts first — when they respawn, each group has a chance to be replaced by Billy (20-minute respawn timer).

3. Kill Billy in the Chapel
Go to the Chapel and walk into the room. Billy auto-spawns again.
- On Origins, clear the priestesses first — when they respawn, the group has a chance to be replaced by Billy (20-minute respawn timer).

4. Read Everling's book in the Library
Go to the Library and read the book in the secret area behind the bookcase — the one leaning against the coffin. Everling writes that the dolls he needs always come to him in the courtyard.

5. Hail Billy in the courtyard
Go to the center of the main courtyard by the entrance. An NPC version of Billy spawns automatically. Hail him and give him 5 silver (do not yell at him).

6. Speak with the froglok ghoul assassin
Go to the jail and hail the froglok ghoul assassin. He tells you to get something to soothe his soul.

7. Read the scroll and kill required monsters
Return to the Library secret area and read the directions on a scroll on the standing bowl. Then kill Archfiend Ivariai, Swine Lord, and 21 Nyth dolls.
- Archfiend Ivariai spawns and attacks as soon as you leave the Library.
- If Swine Lord isn't up, kill his placeholders and wait for respawn.
- There are around 30 Nyth dolls in the castle and they do not respawn — try not to kill them before this step.
- Crysta's bedroom: three dolls spawn on the bed — click the bed to make them spawn.
- Maltus' bedroom: four by the door and four on the bed for a linked encounter of eight.

8. Return to the froglok ghoul assassin
Go back to the froglok ghoul assassin in the first-floor jail and talk with him.
- Do not answer after he says "I will tell you when the transformation is complete" — you will get the update and avoid his despawn. Otherwise, wait about 10 minutes for respawn.

9. Kill Lord Everling
Kill Maltus Everling (Lord Everling) in the basement Laboratory.
- If you fail to kill Everling and respawn at the entrance, the laboratory entrance locks — you must wait to re-enter the zone to finish.

10. Inspect the chest for your reward
Inspect the chest in Lord Everling's Secret Laboratory to complete the quest and receive the Guise of the Deceiver.
- You do not need to kill Lord Everling to open the chest, but he must be dead for you to interact with it.

Tips

A group of Nyth dolls spawns in the crate pile to the right of the quest starter — avoid killing them if possible; it makes the doll-kill step easier.
Carry 5 silver before entering — Billy in the courtyard requires a gold handoff.
Nyth dolls do not respawn; conserve them until step 7.
On Origins, Billy spawns require clearing room mobs first with 20-minute respawn cycles.
Do not reply to the froglok ghoul assassin after his transformation line to avoid a 10-minute despawn wait.
