Obsidian Coldain Insignia Ring
Walkthrough
Gather rhino horn, petrified treant twigs, and sharpening rocks across Great Divide and Eastern Wastes, then craft the Coldain Chipper for Malidain Glacierbane.
How to start
Talk to Malidain Glacierbane at the end of the river on the Daggerflow Glacier in Great Divide.

Notes & prerequisites
- Must have completed Platinum Coldain Insignia Ring and carry the Platinum ring.
- Adventure level 90 (Heroic difficulty).
- Coldain Insignia Ring chain: Copper → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Obsidian → Mithril → Adamantium → Velium.
- Tradeskill level 15 recommended for the Coldain Chipper recipe — failure can destroy components.
Steps
1. Obtain a pristine rhino horn
Kill the brontotherium patriarch in the Ring War area (heroic encounter). Only one horn drops — everyone in the group needs their own for crafting.
- The horn is no-trade but has a 48-hour trade flag — do NOT trade it around; everyone needs their own.
- The Patriarch respawns almost immediately between the questgiver and Ring War area.

2. Collect 3 petrified treant twigs
Collect 3 petrified treant twigs dropped by Petrified Ancients in Forgotten Pools. This is a group update.

3. Harvest 5 sharpening rocks
Harvest 5 sharpening rocks from piles of dense stone in the Caverns of Living Stone. Each player must harvest their own — not a group update.

4. Craft the Coldain Chipper
Craft the Coldain Chipper on a woodworking table using The Coldain Chipper recipe and 1 glowing sandpaper.
- Failure to make pristine on the level-15 recipe can destroy your components.

5. Return to Malidain Glacierbane
Return to Malidain Glacierbane with the completed Coldain Chipper.

Tips
- Coldain Insignia Ring chain: Copper → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Obsidian → Mithril → Adamantium → Velium.
- Keep all ring rewards in your inventory for later quest updates.
- Sharpening rocks are per-player harvests — everyone must gather their own five piles.
