This quest is triggered by examining a sandy bone shard. This item is a random drop from chests that result from Shore Crabs on the Queen's Colony and the Outpost of the Overlord. Examine it to start the quest.

The first order of business is to kill shore crabs until you have attained 5 Scrimshaw Tokens. They don't drop on every crab, but they are a pretty common drop.
The next step is to kill fish in the water until you have 6 pieces of glue.
You must now kill goblins (the Tainted Sapswills) to find a replacement cord. Any of them will do.
