Steps

One of the "dragon images" around the vault

After you receive the quest, you will need to examine the "dragon image" Celtic knot symbols seen on the four pillars in The Lair of Scale (the platform with the vault).
- The exact location where you can click to examine is a bit buggy, so just move your mouse all over each side of the columns until you see it flash 'a dragon image'. The interaction point should be in the middle part of the column on the side facing away from the vault.

Find four keys by killing the drakota on platforms within The Audience Chamber:
- Copper Key: furywing drakota
- Silver Key: furywing drakota
- Black Key: furywing drakota
- Gold Key: Koturah
  - The furywing drakota placeholder for Koturah will NOT give the update for this quest. Respawn seems to be about 20 minutes.
Return and examine the vault at . You are unable to turn the lock, but there is something written on the vault:
"When the staves of the yore scales meet the vortex of scaleborn, when the four arms are raised, only then shall the maw of fortune release itself."
- This used to require the player to speak Draconic, but this requirement has since been removed.
Search around the dungeon for fifteen dragon staves, also called 'ceremonial darslayers'. Like collectibles, they have a set amount of charges and then they despawn. If this happens, wait about 5 minutes and they will respawn. They are spread throughout the entire Sanctum:

  Follow the list below in reverse if you are starting from the previous step.
- If you have a tinkered Gnomish Divining Rod or the Track Harvestables ability, you can track the staves.

  - If the above three locations have you going in circles, go to and look down to get a visual on the ledge.
Run over the Scaleborn vortexes throughout the dungeon and you will automatically place a dragon staff at it. Scaleborn vortexes are the snail-shell-shaped symbols with purple draconic lettering located on the ground:

Inspect the column at the middle of the Gorgs' Pit.
Within 3-minutes, click four polychromatic (red) blocks found along all three climbable walls of the Gorgs' Pit (one on the east wall, one on the west wall, and two on the south wall).
- If you have trouble seeing the red blocks (balanced or lower settings may have trouble), go to Options --> Peformance --> Detail Range --> and set it as high as possible.
- The blocks are called 'loose blocks', you can click them from relatively far away, and they are always in the same place.
Within 3-minutes, click four gold blocks found along the south climbable wall.
Within 3-minutes, click flour green blocks found along the east climbable wall.
Within 3-minutes, click flour yellow blocks found along the west climbable wall.
Examine the vault again in The Lair of Scale . Upon completion you will be ambushed by three amygdalans.
