Examine ancient parchment from desert madmen, follow Planetologist Ahkar's research through the Sinking Sands and a Samiel Pirate ship, and destroy Rahotep's legions to earn the Scepter of Rahotep.

How to start

Examine a piece of ancient parchment, a body drop from desert madmen, maniacs, lunatics, prophets, and Raja the Sunspeaker (highest drop rate) in the Desert of Flames.

Notes & prerequisites

Adventure level 55+.
Epic difficulty — The Prophet fight, Samiel Pirate ship instance, and Rahotep encounter (Epic x2).
Tank and healer of at least level 60 recommended for the Rahotep fight.

Steps

1. Speak with Planetologist Ahkar
Speak with Planetologist Ahkar in Maj'Dul to begin the investigation.

2. Speak to Harshaa
Speak to Harshaa in the Sinking Sands just north of the Twin Tears.

3. Kill the desert maniacs
Kill the desert maniacs that spawn and attack you after speaking to Harshaa.

4. Speak to Harshaa again
Speak to Harshaa once the madmen have been defeated.

5. Slay The Prophet
Slay The Prophet, spawned by killing the four packs of desert lunatics around the altar. Examine the altar afterward.

6. Speak to Harshaa again
Speak to Harshaa after examining the altar.

7. Return to Planetologist Ahkar
Return to Planetologist Ahkar, who directs you to recover artifacts from the Samiel Pirates.

8. Board the Samiel Pirate ship
Stow away on the Samiel Pirate ship by hiding in a box in the Sinking Sands. This zones you into the A Samiel Pirate Ship instance.

9. Kill Lieutenant Kielmal and loot the chest
Find the key by killing Lieutenant Kielmal. Open the chest aboard the ship, then use the ship's wheel to zone out to the docks in the Sinking Sands.

10. Return to Planetologist Ahkar
Return to Planetologist Ahkar with the recovered artifacts.

11. Research the Legend of Rahotep (alignment-specific)
Find more information about the Legend of Rahotep from a city librarian.
- Evil-aligned: Librarian Zabnolique in the Academy of Arcane Science, Freeport.
- Good-aligned: Librarian Dungil in the Concordium Tower, Qeynos Capitol District (blue portal).
- Librarian Zabnolique (Freeport, evil)

12. Return to Planetologist Ahkar
Return to Planetologist Ahkar with the librarian's information.

13. Destroy the Legions of Rahotep
Approach the encounter location to begin the Rahotep event. Destroy approximately 24 level 55^, ^^, and ^^^ undead creatures, followed by Rahotep himself (55 Epic x2). When Rahotep reaches 50% health, he heals back to 100%.
- Warning: The event begins immediately when someone on this step nears the location.
- The event despawns quickly on failure — respawn is approximately 20 minutes.
- Bring a tank and healer of at least level 60.

14. Claim your reward
Return to Planetologist Ahkar to claim the Scepter of Rahotep.

Tips

Raja the Sunspeaker has the highest parchment drop rate.
The Rahotep event is triggered by proximity — coordinate your group before approaching.
Rahotep heals to full at 50% — plan for a long second phase.
After the Samiel Pirate ship, use the ship's wheel to return to Sinking Sands docks.
