Trivia

This quest is a massive tribute to Konami's famous vampire-hunter, Castlevania series, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. The name of the NPC offering it, is in reference to Simon Belmont. The quest's name "Bloody Tears" is also the title of the song first introduced in Castlevania II. Even the quest reward, referencing the Thorn Whip is a direct reference to Castlevania II.
