Steps

Go to Kelethin and speak with Lady Alethea Jyleel in Joleena's Restaurant.
Within twelve minutes, harvest 6 jars of rhym from rhymposts around Kelethin:
- Aerie rhympost, between levels on the Fae Residential Aerie Platform:
- Memorial rhympost, on the rim of the memorial stump:
- Court house rhympost, behind the Fae Royal Court:
- Library rhympost, behind the Kelethin Research Library:
- Bough rhympost, tip of the branch that connects the Old Kelethin platform and the Kelethin Reserach Library platform:
- Lift rhympost, walk out behind the building near the Old Kelethin Acorn Lift:
Return to Lady Alethea Jyleel.
Locate the Gully of the Ursa Rhym in northwester Greater Faydark at and examine the following items (closeups of the items are on the talk page):
- The Chessboard
- The Challenge Gong
- The Hive of the Diva
- The Hive of the Composer
- The Hive of the Baritone
Go to Gnomeland Security Headquarters in Steamfont Mountains and approach Inspector Berlok Beeglesnoop.
Berlok is quite insane, but constant reminders of his youth will get you through his dialogue. Answers the dialogue in the following order:
1. What did you do in your youth?
2. I wish I could be a great investigator like you were in your youth.
3. When you were young you must have been a great writer.
4. I think reading helps you stay young.
5. When you were young, did you ever get lost?
6. In your younger days, you must have taught the Gnomeland Security all you know.
7. Were you this crazy when you were young or is this an old age thing?
8. I am the general of Felwithe.
9. When you were young, you must have seen some splendid shields.
10. That accounts for two books. Where is the last?
Go to New Tunaria to find Inspector Berlok Beeglesnoop's three books. These are rewarded by completing the following subquests:
- A Poem to the Past, started from a shield on a wall.
- The Gumshoe Guide, a collection quest started from a book. or
  - The pages spawn around the nearby courtyard.
  - Just like with a normal collection quest, turn in the completed collection at any collector.
- A Water Tight Case, started from an underwater chest.
Upon completing the last subquest, you will receive A Set of Books. Berlok's Investigative Guidelines. Examine it and you will receive a spell scroll titled The Ins and Outs of Investigation. Scribe that scroll to receive the Investigation ability.

Return to the Gully of the Ursa Rhym in Greater Faydark and click on the 'evidence in the gully'. You will automatically use the new Investigation skill.
Read the book you received, The Case of the Ursa Rhym.
Collect 6 clues in the quarry of The Broken Fields in Butcherblock Mountains (pictures of both the types of clues are on the talk page).
1. Investigate 3 scorched armor plates.
2. Investigate 3 scorched daggers.
Speak to the rat NPC Chypp, with a silent P.
- After you finish the dialog, two elven skeletons and four Raiders of Ree will spawn as you move further down the canyon. You do not need to kill them.
Go to The Wailing Caves in The Commonlands and investigate 6 pieces of dark elf evidence in the store room area.
Find and investigate expedition evidence, which can be found at one of the following locations: , , or .
Kill Lord Ree.
- Lord Ree has a ~30 minute respawn timer. The door at will open if he has spawned, so just keep trying.
Examine the book on the table with a black cloud emanating from it.
Hail the Ebon Mask shadow master and defeat the encounter. You will receive missing pages.
- If you fail the encounter, you will have to wait until Lord Ree respawns.
Return to Chypp in Butcherblock Mountains and request his eye necklace.
- Mention that your dog lost an eye in a bear attack.
Examine the missing pages from your inventory using The Eye of Ree.
Return to Lady Alethea Jyleel in Greater Faydark.
