Walkthrough
Examine an Old Telescopic Lens from Steamfont kobolds, gather catalysts and named kobold parts, and defeat King Grikbar to craft the Staff of the Observers heritage reward.
How to start
Examine the Old Telescopic Lens, a body drop from level 40+ kobolds in Steamfont Mountains. Gnomish numerals on the edge suggest a gnome in the zone can tell you more.

Steps
1. Speak with Vhizz Frugrin
Speak with Vhizz Frugrin inside the Frugrin Observatory about the Old Telescopic Lens.

2. Kill Lord Rulgax
Travel to Runnyeye in the Enchanted Lands, enter The Chamber of Rulgax, and kill Lord Rulgax for his unique eye.

3. Return to Vhizz Frugrin
Return to Vhizz Frugrin with Lord Rulgax's eye.

4. Harvest ice crystals
Harvest ice crystals from the base of the statue in Icespire Summit. Icespire Summit is in Everfrost — enter from Icespire Caverns.

14. Kill King Grikbar, the Scourge of Steamfont
Kill King Grikbar, the Scourge of Steamfont. At 50% health he calls the zone to him — clear adds before engaging, or kill quickly enough to ignore them.
- Quest update occurs on the King's death — a fast kill can skip dealing with called mobs.

Tips
- Farm kobolds at Mines of Meldrath, Grikbar Crater, or Mazkeen Crater for the Old Telescopic Lens drop.
- You must speak Serilian — the quest will not advance otherwise.
- Kill the three named kobolds in order: Digmaster Pechpooka, Slave Pechmooka, Scout Pechyooka.
- Clear King Grikbar's room before pulling — he calls the entire zone at 50% health.

Quest Text
I found an old lens that looked like it used to be part of some kind of telescope device. There are numerals on the edge of the device that appear to be in the gnomish language. There might be a gnome in the Steamfont Mountains who could tell me more about this strange object.
Completion
I recovered the legendary Staff of the Observers. By helping Vhizz Frugrin at the Steamfont Observatory I learned that the kobold King Grikbar had come into possession of the staff and had been using it to rule.
Stages
- Stage 1
I found an old telescopic lens on the body of a kobold. Maybe a gnome around the Steamfont Mountains can tell me about the gnomish markings that show up on it.
I should see if I could find a gnome that would know something about the old lens I found.
Zone: Exp03 Rgn SteamfontDone: I showed the old lens to Vhizz Frugrin.
I spoke to Vhizz Frugrin and he told me that the lens was used on an old handheld telescope. He then told me about the legendary Staff of the Observers.
- Stage 2
I told Vhizz Frugrin that I would get him a new lens for "Blinkie" so that he could continue his search for the Staff of the Observers. He said I should try and find one by destroying a large and powerful evil eye.

I got a large lens from the evil eye in Runnyeye, Rulgax. This should be what Vhizz is looking for.
- Stage 3
I should take this Lens of Rulgax back to Vhizz Frugrin in the Steamfont Observatory. He should be able to install it in "Blinkie".
